Second International Conference
on Mechanical Spectroscopy, MS-II

Kraków, Poland, 3-8 December, 2000

AGH University of Science and Technology, Kraków, Poland
AGH University of Science and Technology, Kraków, Poland

SCOPE OF THE CONFERENCE:

The Second International Conference on Mechanical Spectroscopy MS-II , is organized to continue international meetings of scientists interested in the field of mechanical spectroscopy of solids, soft matter and liquids, and novel applications of mechanical loss measurements performed in the frequency range from 0.001 Hz to MHz in the
fields of materials science, solid state physics, metallurgy and polymer science.

The Second International Conference on Mechanical Spectroscopy MS-II will encompass the fields of mechanical spectroscopy, internal friction, ultrasonic attenuation in solids, and applications to Materials Science and Physics. The development of new materials and applications to non-destructive evaluation will be considered alike. Experts, who will introduce the subjects, summarize the experimental facts and theoretical developments, and point out applications will give invited lectures. International Conference on Mechanical Spectroscopy, MS-II consists of a series of Introductory Lectures and Lectures on Applications of Mechanical Spectroscopy. The approach will be multi-disciplinary to allow scientists already working within the field and others wishing to work in it to obtain an overview of this expanding subject. The lectures will be given in the sessions, with time allowed for questions and discussion. The broad scope of the MS-II will provide fertile ground for new research in mechanical spectroscopy.

To supplement plenary lectures, contributions (six pages) are also invited for short oral presentation. PhD students and young research workers are strongly encouraged to take part in these complementary sessions. Selected short contributions will be also published in the Proceedings of the MS-II Conference.

Example how to write abstracts for invited papers and short contributions is given here:

The Second International conference on Mechanical Spectroscopy will provide an international forum for the presentation of current research and understanding of various aspects of the mechanical spectroscopy of solids. The spectroscopic approach to dissipation of mechanical energy in solids will be carefully analyzed from either theoretical and experimental view points.

Enrollment is limited to 77 participants.
